For everyone who is saying Abraj Al Bait is better, you just don't know this: Big Ben has a mechanism powered by gravity, and coins. The bells don't swing, they hang and a hammer hits them. Big ben has survived WW1 and WW2 yet, when it got bombed in WW2, it only lost half a second. Big Ben has been running almost continuously for 165 years, yet Abraj Al has only been running for 20 years. I would always pick Big Ben as it has more history, plus it looks much better. Abraj Al Bait just looks like a group of clowns has built it, plus Halloween was months ago.

Comparing them as clock towers, I like Big Ben way more. Abraj al bait feels dystopian and overwhelming. It doesn’t look awful, but not nearly as beautiful as Big Ben/queen Elizabeth tower. The clock in Mecca doesn’t seem to chime or anything, and the face appears to basically be like a screen. And the actual complex inside is just another modern shopping mall. Big Ben has its history, it’s a beautiful Victorian relic, and machinery all still intact and working perfectly to this day, it just can’t be beat by this bloated monstrosity
